Shadow People: The Movie

I was thrilled to have a chance to view a copy of "Shadow People." It's a movie I was waiting to see. It's being released on March 19th.

This Anchor Bay film starred Dallas Roberts and Alison Eastwood and well acted by both.

The premise is pretty interesting. Based supposedly on a real story, a small town jaded radio host (played excellently by Roberts) gets caught up in a paranormal conspiracy about shadow people being implicated in hundreds of people's unexpected deaths while sleeping.

An intelligence agent (played by Eastwood) goes on an investigation and they two end up learning about a decades old coverup of something called SUNDS in which people die in their sleep. In an interesting twist of fate, they find evidence of an inverse placebo effect. 

The film is interspersed with the real life people involved in the true events being interviewed (think of "The Office" when they talk camera to face to characters). They use news footage, computer searches and these interviews throughout the film to give you a real unfolding mystery feel and a creepy ass urban legend milieu.

This is a hard movie to review because it's a style that some adore and others abhor. I guess I'll go with the "if you like..." viewpoint -

If you like urban legends, "Blair Witch Project," "Paranormal Activity," "A Nightmare On Elm Street," "Final Destination," "The Ring," reality-like themes, sleep paralysis/shadow people themes, this is a great addition to your collection.
