Arizona Ghost Hunting Blast! Annual Cemetery Crawl Event

This is the sixth year in a row for the Cemetery Crawl Event. It began with an event designed by myself and Debe Branning, writer and head of MVD Ghostchasers. Our initial intention was to have a fun road rally like Amazing Race and also expose people to cemeteries around the state, as well as often having dinner in and sleeping over in spooky places. It's been a huge hit. This year Julie from Above The Norm: Bizarre Arizona and I are going to be cemetery attendants along the road trip and sleepover in the location with the road racers. I have never seen a group of people have more of a blast. Each year, I am entrusted to come up with the rhyming clues for them to find the headstones.

There are still openings for 3 more teams so please consider it because this is a freaking blast! Here's the info from Debe:

    Well, you know anyone who is in for a wacky road trip to crazy places--then you've found your team!

  3. A cemetery crawl sounds WAY better than a plain-ole bar crawl. Plus, there's less chance of hangovers.

    Love the skull and swords. Getting me in the mood for H-ween. It is hilarious. Those people really get it into the whole thing. Julie and I will be cemetery attendants along the road trip and we make sure they do the deeds they're supposed to before they can trek on. The place we're staying is way cool too. I will definitely be doing lots of vid and pics of this one to share the craziness.

    It will be a wonderfully beautiful picture-taking opportunity, but mostly it'll be a helluva lot of giggling.

  6. Man, you guys suck. And by "you guys suck", I mean "I'm SO jealous!" This looks like a blast! We used to have a similar "Road Rally" type event in college, though those usually didn't get too far before the "navigators" were too stoned to read a map properly- then all bets were off. Seriously, I know from experience these things can be quite a bit of work to put together so kudos to y'all for putting the time in and I hope it's a big success!

  7. Hey Bleaux;
    It's really modeled right from Amazing Race and they have roadblocks and clues and deeds they have to do and it goes for 2 days, going to the overnight destination and back home, hitting usually a dozen or so cemeteries and weird unusual creepy spots. They get tickets some years when they get out of hand. I really love doing the rhyming clues. It's a hard task to give enough info without too much. It is a big success each year and it makes money for the cemetery association so, win/win.

  8. This is so cool to crash the cemeteries, explore the tombstones and see what people wanted to make the last impression of themselves.

    Yeah, we get a lot of education packed into the whole thing. Sometimes it's outlaw or lawmen's graves or notorious people and other times, it's interesting headstones where they learn a bit more about what different signs and symbols mean on graves. They also get to know the history of all the cemeteries. It's pretty awesome.
