Hooking You Up With 5 Horror Movie Choices

I’ll give you a mood you might be in and 5 movies that might satisfy it.

I’m in the mood for icy cold, wintry…

“Storm of the Century”
“30 Days of Night”
“The Shining”
“Let the Right One In”
“Dead Snow”

I want to see something in the woods

“Prophecy” (1979)
“Day of the Animals”
“Final Terror”
“Cabin Fever”
“Wrong Turn”

I just have to see some 1970s Made-For-TV Horror

“Crowhaven Farm”
“Let’s Scare Jessica To Death”
“Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”
“Snowbeast”
“Bad Ronald”

I simply must see a haunted house story

“The Haunting” (1963)
“The Changeling”
“The Evil”
“The Legend of Hell House”
“Something Evil””

I want to see someone confused/disturbed/losing it...

“The Skeleton Key”
“Stir of Echoes”
“Beneath”
“Gothika”
“In Dreams”

I feel like watching something that goes down a forbidden, disturbing path...

“Mortuary”
“Saw”
“Re-animator”
“Parasite”
“Wolf Creek”

  1. I honestly don't get to watch nearly as many horror movies as I want, because my parents are so paranoid that I'll become mentally disturbed from watching them. It's stupid. Once I'm on my own, I plan to watch 'em to my heart's content. One day...

  2. Hmmmm thought psycho or the wicker man would be on the list of "seeing someone disturbed". Not the remake monstrosities. Originals are always the best.

  3. Well let me see.....I've seen: The Shining, Cabin Fever, Wrong Turn, Stir of Echoes, Gothika, Saw, and Parasite. Wow! I have a LOT of catching up to do!

The Shining - awesome! a classic

Cabin Fever - cheesy "Pancakes" WTF?

Wrong Turn - WV scaries! That shit could really happen! (present company excluded)

Stir of Echoes - mind fuck and really one of my faves.

Gothika - a lot of my friends didn't like this. I thought it was pretty good!

Saw - yes, I have SAW them ALL (except the last one now that I think about it)these are some of the BEST "it could happen" movies around.

Parasite - saw it as an early teenager and if it's the movie I think it is, all I can think of is nasty slime!

That's my SISKEL & EBERT moment for your enjoyment. HA!

  5. Some good selections. I'll throw in Frostbitten for wintry (and funny).

  6. What a great group of movie-watchers! I could have probably done 20 instead of five, but figured enough variety can be found in five. I have my horror movies (hundreds) categorized by mood so I know what to watch, like;
    "mentally disturbed killer"
    "dark, autumn, woods, chilly"
and such. It helps because I most often pick a movie by the mood it has. I'll be in the mood for "funny zombies" or "terrifying zombies" or "classic zombies" and those are all different moods to me.
