Another of our Desert Abandoned Treks

Julie and I dragged our buddy, Vinnie, on our desert trek yesterday. Poor Vinnie, this is what you get for communicating with Autumnforest after reading her blog. You get pulled into her weird world. He's a great sport and even tried to flip over this poor horned toad we found. The horned toad was apparently better at anticipating his antics. We found 4 more locations for our abandoned book; a dump in the desert, a shop, a warehouse and a clubhouse.

Here's a shot of me at a desert dump...

While I was at the dump, I did a read on this little doll and kept her. Her name is "Junkyard Annie" and she is a great addition to my abandoned dolls collection.

So, we're driving down a desert road in a town that has about 10 buildings. There's a dude on a badass motorized scooter driving down the freeway. So, I take my flipcam and start filming him. Vinnie goes, "he's gonna see ya," and on the video you could hear me say, "naw, he'll never know." Here's a still shot. Do ya think he knew???

This was when I told Vinnie to go to hell... So, he dropped right in!

Me in a fear cage....

  1. Looks like loads of fun. I am sure Vinnie didn't feel dragged into your shinnanegans.

  2. No, not at all, MM. He instigated a lot of it, like I dropped him off in the desert and he hiked off to see something he found on Google maps on his phone. So, he finds the horned toad and he wants to see if it's true that they shoot blood out of the eyes. Men are such children! Of course, excitedly I had to videotape it. Yeah, he's a great sport about me making fake Bigfoot videos (yesterday's post) and such. Hee hee

  4. She had a fantastic read for the psychic in me. That story will come out in the book Julie and I are writing. I kept her because she needed a guardian who would protect her. The other dolls seem to like her fine. Expect me to be soon getting a shelving unit and putting all the dolls up as I collect more. They stare at me and remind me to keep up my fiction horror writing as well as the nonfiction ghost hunting stuff I'm doing.

  6. CB;
    We have one more trip on December 1st to an old ghost town. This one was awesome. We totally stumbled onto the finds. The warehouse where that cage was, had graffiti saying "the beast" and the cage inside had clips for someone in a costume to be clipped into it. There were clean room jumpsuits on the floor. There was a giant box painted as a jack-in-the-box with a crank rigged on the side. I don't know what kind of party that was, but I sure would have liked to have been the gal dancing in the cage.

  7. Hey you! Really cool post! LOVE the doll! She seems very pleasant! I don't have anywhere near your abilities, but she seems "happy" if ya know what I mean. Glad you had fun! You and Julie have inspired me to do something similar in my neck of the woods (Ju actually encouraged it when I first met her!)so I'm getting my thoughts together.

    Changed up my blog last night. Felt it needed to be a little more light. Been in the dark too long!

    Love ya Big-Sis!

  8. Hey Sis;
    I'm thrilled! You have seen some amazing and unusual places and followed a path of the "forgotten." In fact perhaps a book called "Forgotten South Carolina" is in the making???

  9. Cool video reminds me of some of the abandoned buildings we had to clean out when I was awaiting training in Wainwright AB. They used to house german POW's from WW2, you could still some of the stuff they wrote on the walls. It's a shame they tore them down.

    Wow! That must have been something. I can imagine what the weather did to those buildings, just as brutal as our desert sun and heat. I just love abandoned buildings. They are stories waiting to be told.

  13. Another fun trip with you and Vinnie. Glad to have our google earth bud there. He did find us a couple of great places we wouldn't have found without him.

  14. Hey sis;
    Yeah, the Vin-Ster definitely was a good bud to take on a road trip. Who else would have found an abandoned clubhouse and a horned toad?

  15. Gateway to hell! HEHEE! You look fabulous; even in "captivity". =D

    You're sweet. It was the most dusty, nasty trip in the sunshine and powedery dirt of the desert, digging around nasty places, sitting on sticky surfaces and generally getting dirt under our nails. I think I took a ton of dust home in my hair. I looked in the mirror and thought "what? I have brown hair?" Then, I washed and there was a redhead under all that dirt.
