M. Knight? Do We Trust You Anymore?

Okay, okay. I saw this and just had to let ya'all know. I have to admit that M. Knight lost my trust after "Lady in the Water" and I deflated completely for "The Happening," so I was wary, but let me explain this movie project: M. Knight has started a company in which he comes up with a concept for a supernatural movie and then has upcoming directors/writers do them. Brilliant, huh? I mean, we are disappointed with his writing efforts and sort of perplexed by his directing skills and certainly annoyed by his acting efforts, so if you don't have talent in any arenas other than coming up with concepts--find people who have your missing talents. Brilliant! Perhaps I shall see this. It comes out on my birthday and I wouldn't waste it on M. Knight, but hey I might for a fresh new director/writer...

  1. I'm just not sure about this.

    I can say that it recalled to mind the movie "Down" and for that I can't forgive.

  2. There was another one in the early 70s I believe--I tried like mad to find a bootleg copy, but it was called "Elevator," I think. There's a movie coming out called "Buried" and I worry about it too. Set-bound films that take place in one tiny space--not so good for 96 minutes.

  3. Ain't it the truth. The first few were creative and entertaining but lately he has taken the M night franchise down hill fast.

  5. Hey Libby-Girl;
    I get ya. There's somethings I like that people go, "what the hell is wrong with you?" It's totally personal preference. That he has someone else doing the script and directing shows promise to me, but I'm still not sure about an hour and a half of elevator...

  7. Brian;
    I wondered if he was like those novelists that make one great novel and then can't pump out another good one... but the problem with M. Knight is that he has directing ADD. He needs some Ritalin. He goes off on tangents and is inspired by things that make me wonder if he pops peyote buttons in his spare time. I have a zillion great premises and thoughts every day, but to make one of them work, you have to really put it under scrutiny. He had a concept about a tale for his kids and made Lady in the Water. Then, he was inspired by the problem with bee populations and made "The Happening." I shudder to think what he would do if he found a lot of bellybutton lint... Just because he shat it don't make it shiny...
