I'd love input on what to serve as a Halloween Punch served in a carved out pumpkin (with alcohol).
Here's what I'm considering:
Pumpkin Punch: Apple Cider, ginger ale, rum, chunks of pumpkin floating on surface
Apple Pie Punch: apple cider, spiced rum, cinnamon Schnapps, slices of apple with cloves spiked in them floating on top
Hard Cider Punch: Hot water, sugar, fresh ginger finely grated, cloves, cinnamon, grated nutmeg, hard cider, apple jack, brandy, floating apple slices.
Jack O'Lantern: Hennessy VSOP Cognac, orange juice, ginger ale, Grand Marnier, decorated with an orange wheel.
If anyone has another punch idea for the party, I'd sure love to hear it. I had dreamed of using a licorice stick as a straw in the drinks, but I'm not sure it'll match well with some of the drinks. If you can think of something that would go with it that feels rather autumn-y in flavor, I've love to hear it.

I havent had a drank in about a year and a half Autumnforest-and not for any specific reasons-just got sick on vodka one night and lost my taste for it! I think the Jack O Lantern sounds wonderful!! I do crave a drink now and then and when I am not on my pain meds I just might make this one myself:-) best to you as always and if I think of any other "house specialities:-)" I will comment -boy in their day my parents and their friends could mix a concoction or two!! hope you have a beautiful weekend-and dont work too hard!!

ReplyDeleteI agree about vodka. I had some of that as a teen and went...streaking. Ended up head to toe in cactus needles after rolling into a garden. To this day, I cringe when I think of vodka. I think that's why I'm leaning towards rum. For me, however, I'm going to have pumpkin ale. I just love that stuff. The taste of it makes me think of smoky chimneys and cornstalks.
I like the last two on the list. Rum would give me headache. I haven't had a drink in quite a while too, so I have no suggestions for new punch recipes:(

ReplyDeleteA friend of mine makes "Pixie Punch" which is Midori, vodka and Sprite. It is dangerously delicious!

ReplyDeleteThat sounds good, actually. I'm trying not to limit myself because of my dislike of vodka, because honestly, I'll probably be drinking pumpkin ale instead. I love Medori, so yummers! I'll definitely pass that by the "committee" of friends who're helping out.
