"Flash Forward": Must See Show!

I had an addiction to “Harper’s Island” and then it was over. So, I moved my addiction over to “Jericho.” And, well, it ended…

So, I was looking for a "large ensemble cast facing tough odds together" sort of show and I found it. The new ABC show “Flash Forward” (Thursdays at 7 pm for us in Mountain Standard Time, probably 8 pm for ya’all in the east), started last week with a bang!

The premise of the show is simple. Everyone on earth faints for just over 2 minutes. When they awaken, they realize that they all had visions of the same time period six months from then. They’re frightened by what they see in their futures and are working to find out what happened, why it happened, and how to avoid bad outcomes.

The show focuses an FBI agent and his doctor wife, his Asian American partner (who saw no vision when he was passed out—does that mean no future?) and a female FBI agent who are put together to figure out what the heck happened.

At the end of the first episode, they review public cameras from around the world and in one stadium during a game, they see one lone man walking while everyone else is passed out. The question now is…who and how and why?

  1. I loved Harper's Island too. It was one of the only shows I made my hubby watch with me. I'll check out Flash Forward. :)

  2. Becca;
    You're going to like it. I have to admit, that the closest feeling I got to "Harper's Island" was "Jericho" (made by the same producer). This show had that same feel and it's rare to find a large ensemble cast with lots of tension as everyone tries to survive something together. "Lost" had that feel, but after the first season I was completely lost myself...it just got too much into the whole conspiracy thing like "X-Files" did-that's when it "jumps the shark" so to say.

  5. Ditto here also. Harper's Island fan. Thought it was a neat show! Also followed Jericho there in the beginning.

    Watched the first episode of Flash Forward last week, but missed last night's episode. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it. I saw some plot flaws, but decided to overlook them and see how I felt as the show progressed. Well, all week I kept thinking back to the show...a sure sign it got me hooked so...I was annoyed I didn't get to watch last night. (DVR conflicts and since I already had 1 show tapping, the rule is we EACH get a show so...I got overruled on hogging it. Rats.)

    Oh, and Libby...I liked Fringe. Again, too many Thurs night conflicts...I'm recording something else then and my husband likes to record yet something else so...I had to forgo it! (Thank heavens for Netflix!!!! I just have to wait a bit for the seasons to come out on DVD...)

  8. Thanks so much for letting everyone know about that. I taped last night's and am having my son watch it online so he doesn't miss what happened in the first episode.

  9. Very good. I was thinking on posting something on this show so I'm glad to see that you did. So far I really like the whole idea behind the story. I'm not sure what I would do if I saw myself 6 months from now. I would hope that I would be thinner and have a job. It was creepy seeing that lone man walking at the end of the first show. Because I watch too many shows on Thursday, I have to catch the second eppy tonight. BTW, I miss Harper's Island and hope another murder/mystery like it is in the works.
