You Gotta Start Somewhere: Celebrities and Horror Beginnings

(I just had to use this hunky picture to grab your attention—and mine. Just one of the many stars listed below who started in horror)

It apparently does happen to the best of them. Either a star begins in Playboy or does a horror movie; apparently both ideal jumping points for fame. Some of them would like to hide these past experiences and cut them off their resumes, but honestly I enjoy watching them. You can see a standout star even at a tender age. The list of stars and horror movie beginnings is an extensive one, but here are some of the more entertaining match-ups:

Kevin Bacon “Friday the 13th” 1980
Renee Zellweger & Matthew McConaughey “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4” 1994
Jennifer Aniston “Leprechaun” 1993
Ben Affleck “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” 1992
Jim Carrey “Once Bitten” 1985
Johnny Depp “A Nightmare on Elm Street” 1984
Josh Holloway “Sabretooth” 2002
Katherine Heigl “Bug Buster” 1998
Demi Moore “Parasite” 1982
Brooke Shields “Alice Sweet Alice” 1976

  2. Thanks for the pic Autumnforest!:) I didn't know about any of this so all of it was new to me! I loved Kevin Bacon in "Stir of Echoes"-and enjoyed the movie very much also-although i don't think it was well received critically at all from what I remember-gosh has it been 10 years ago already? best to you as always!!

  4. Hee hee. I was trying to guess how many would respond just for the pic of Josh--one of the best hunks on TV ever (my #1 fav is Adrian Paul from Highlander--the perfect man)! I agree about Kevin Bacon--he's not my "type" but I've had a crush on him since, you guessed it, "Footloose." Devin, I totally loved him in "Stir of Echoes" which is one of my favorite psychic movies--they really captured what it's like.

  7. I have to admit, Parasite totally gross me out in the theater. I think at the time she was doing General Hospital and I thought it was a turn for the worse for her career. Apparently, not. That's also back when she had absolutely no breasts. Ah, yes, an up and coming actress making it on talents alone...
